Carpentry

Students will learn current techniques in residential and commercial construction, including site preparation, layout, floor and wall framing, roof framing, and exterior and interior finishing with special emphasis on the use of modern construction materials. Students are involved in blueprint reading, cost estimating, and construction mathematics. Safe use of hand and power tools is stressed. The course includes both classroom and shop activity and requires homework.

Blair Ritchey

Carpentry Instructor

Graduated from Carmichaels Area High School in 1996 with an academic diploma.  Attended California University of Pennsylvania from 1996-2000 achieving a Bachelors of Science in Technology Education kindergarten through 12.  Joined the Ocean City Beach Patrol (OCBP) in 1999-2006 and taught at Parkside starting in the spring of 2000 as a Technology Education teacher.  Attended Salisbury University to achieve a Masters of Arts in Public School Administration.  Along with teaching I have become a licensed Maryland Home Improvement Contractor and Master Electrician in the state of Maryland.  In 2008 I moved to Parkside CTE teaching the Carpentry course and still currently instruct that program.
